A. Spring Recruitment:
Please spread the word to friends, etc. that applications are available online.
Thanks to everyone who helped with the application/flyers!! We sent out the application and cover sheets to all of the student organizations. An all-student e-mail was also sent, and Kate will send another one the week applications are due.
Review timeline: Applications are due on Friday, February 16, and interviews will be held Monday and Tuesday, February 19 and 20. The current members will select the new members at our regularly scheduled meeting on Wednesday, February 21, and the new members will join up for the following meeting on Wednesday, February 28 (the following week). Please keep some time clear in your schedules for interviews!! We will need 2-3 current St.A.R.T. members to sit in on each interview! Kate will e-mail a schedule around to sign up once we have applications turned in.
B. Spring Survival Kits: Already around the corner!
There will be an ad in the Alumnus magazine – March issue.
The deadline for orders is Monday, April 23. We will assemble the kits at a meeting on April 25 and deliver beginning April 26 through finals week.
The group decided that recipients would receive e-mails that they received a kit and they can pick them up at the Alumni Center or schedule a delivery time (offer a window of time when they would be home). This way, we will not waste time delivering to people who are not home.
C. Volunteers for Interviews to be put on YouTube
If anyone is interested in volunteering to be interviewed about St.A.R.T., please let Kate know. Our new staff member for technology would like to interview current St.A.R.T. members and take video of some of our events to put on YouTube with a link back to our web site. There will be a link to the video on our site as well.
Also, if anyone is still interested in a St.A.R.T. blog, please let Kate know and she will set you up with someone in the office to get that started. Both of these are great opportunities to showcase St.A.R.T. to Ball State students as well as show off our programs to other schools.
D. Senior Congrats Party 2007!!
We only have about 6 meetings left until Senior Congrats!!! It will be here before you know it, so we need to get cracking on the plans during office hours! There are four sub-committees – if you did not sign up for one, please let Kate know what you would prefer to work with – if you do not have a preference, you will be assigned to one.
PUBLICITY (Melissa Martin, Arica Thiel, Meg Thornburg): This group will work on all designs and orders for t-shirts, cups, advertising, etc. The group decided to stick with sending a post card to all graduating seniors as well as using e-mails, etc. We would also like to have t-shirts again this year, but are on the fence with cups, since they may not "add" anything to the event and would save money. We also thought it would be a good idea to use Facebook to advertise.
ENTERTAINMENT/DECORATIONS (Drake Land, Lindsey Thompson, Alexis Young): This group will select items to purchase for the party (decorations), and will also be in charge of creating and staffing games at the party, securing the DJ, etc. The DJ contacted Kate a while ago and is booked.
SPONSORS & SET-UP (Emily Gross, Meryn Mahoney): This group will be in charge of getting sponsors from the group, all correspondence with vendors, ticket information, registration materials, transportation requests, tent rental, and security. In the past, we've had difficulties with tickets for family members, so the group decided we could have parents/guests sign in at the party to receive free tickets.
FOOD & DRINK (Anne Frasure, Erin Whitfield): This committee will contact and secure all food and bar vendors, and any extras the group decides on.
E. Past Activity Reports
Indiana Ice Outing – Katelyn and Kinsey attended this outing and helped with registration, etc. They were even selected to participate in a hula contest during the game! Way to go, girls! Thanks for your help!!

G. Announcements/Other Business:
New officer selection – start thinking of who you'd like to nominate for (1) President, (2) Vice President/Treasurer, (3) New Member Coordinator, (4) Public Relations Chair, and (5) Secretary! The group decided to hold off on elections until the end of the semester, to allow new members the opportunity to take on leadership positions.
Reminder: Homecoming Steering Committee applications are due February 2 – you can pick up an application upstairs, or print one off the web site at www.bsu.edu/alumni/homecoming. The HSC is a pretty large time commitment, but a very rewarding experience!
The Comm Club is taking donations of books, CDs, DVDs. You can drop these off on the 4th floor of the Comm building or call Alexis and she can come get them!
