Letters of Gratitude
Upon graduating, Julie Barrett refl ects on all that Ball State meant to her and thanks the faculty and staff who helped her along the way.

To my favorite faculty and staff :

Well it's the end of another year, and this one might not seem any different than the years past for all of you, however, it's a BIG ONE for me. I'm graduating!

My four years are up and I'm off to the real world. But before I go, I just wanted to say thank you to all of you for your time, knowledge, and support throughout the years. I couldn't have done it without your help and awesome guidance.

For the CMSO [Construction Management Student Organization] crowd, I know you've heard me say it before, but I sincerely wish I were two years younger so that I would graduate with a CM degree. I strongly believe in the program and the people involved, and I can't wait to see how successful the fi rst graduating class will be!

You have opened so many doors for us students. It truly shows your interest in our future. Please keep me posted on how things are going, and I'll be sure to keep in touch as well.

As some of you may know, I have accepted a job with Gaylor Electric in Indianapolis, where I will be a Project Engineer. Needless to say, I am very excited about it.

I am also getting married in October, and I just found a perfect home and have just moved into it. Things are really starting to move along.

I want to wish you all the best and give credit where credit is due, because I couldn't have done it without you. Please contact me in the future if I can help you in any way possible.

Thanks for everything,
Julie Barrett, '05

Grateful parents commend Ball State's Department of Journalism for its quality programming and innovative instruction.

Dear Mrs. Weaver [Chairman of the Department of Journalism]:

Our daughter Danielle Klotz just finished her senior year in journalism graphics and has an internship at a printing company in Kokomo. During her four years of education, we were able to see fi rst-hand how the people of Ball State, from the dorm cashier to department chair, were believers and practitioners of customer service for the student as well as the parent.

BSU's freshman half-day introductory program for the students/parents was truly outstanding. Free tutoring for core-40 classes to one-on-one personal instructor assistance demonstrates the concern for making the student academically successful.

A couple years ago we wrote you that we had been most impressed with the caliber, professionalism, dedication, and nurturing staff we had met during a journalism open house. The succeeding two years have even more solidifi ed our belief that Ball State is one of the finest institutions for learning, where we feel the university is truly active in wanting the student to succeed.

We are proud of our daughter's accomplishments (in her four years of study) and know the staff shares in that accomplishment. We want to give our heartfelt thanks to you and your staff for our daughter's successful education.

As Indiana University and Purdue University graduates, we have been most impressed with the Ball State Department of Journalism and wish you all continued success.

Sincerely,

John and Jane Klotz, parents of Danielle Klotz, '05
