Committee Reports
Budget Committee Report
Eugene White distributed the proposed budget for 2005-06. The total budget proposed was $10,000. A motion was made by Steve Brace to approve the budget, Jeanie Griggs seconded the motion, and the budget was approved by voice vote.
Innovative Education Grant
Out of three grant applications submitted this year, Ivy Disher with Minnetrista Cultural Center and Tim Peters with Indianapolis Public School Number 5 were tentatively selected to receive $500 each upon receiving itemized budgets for the Innovative Education Grant. Ivy Disher would use the grant to help execute an innovative program to serve pre-service teachers enrolled in Ball State University's elementary education department. Tim Peters would use the grant to help fund a hands-on learning experience for students in the area of geography and science through a program using a SCUBA Club to help students learn extensively about coral reef formations and ecology. A motion to approve the selection for the Innovative Education Grant was made by Steve Yager, seconded by Steven Brace, and approved by voice vote.
Outstanding Alumni Committee Report
Four nominations were submitted this year. The winners of the Outstanding Alumni Award for 2005-06 are Mr. Joseph M. Olah, '81 and Dr. Wendy Y. Robinson, EDD96. Olah teaches at Lake Ridge Middle School in Gary, Indiana. Robinson is the superintendent of the Fort Wayne Community Schools District.
A motion was made by Jeanie Griggs to accept the nomination, seconded by Steve Brace, and approved by voice vote.
Scholarship Committee
Out of 30 submissions, 11 scholarships were awarded this year. Each scholarship awarded was in the amount of $1,000. The 11 students, their hometowns, and the scholarship(s) were:

- Michelle Barbuch, Carmel, Charles M. Kimbrough and Teachers College Alumni Scholarships
- Katherine Czubik, Merrillville, Helen Sornson Elementary Education Scholarship
- Robbie Faith, Fortville, Helen Sornson Elementary Education and Teachers College Alumni Scholarships
- Brad Hostetter, Muncie, Earl Johnson Memorial and Teachers College Alumni Scholarships
- Howard Jankowski, South Bend, Teachers College Alumni Scholarship
- Elliott Lemberg, Fort Wayne, John and Lavona Dunworth and Teachers College Alumni Scholarships
- Brooke Rice, Pittsboro, Leslie J. Mauth Alumni and Teachers College Alumni Scholarships
- Allison Saul, Shelbyville, Leslie J. Mauth Alumni Scholarship
- Lisa Swander, Muncie, Myrtle D. Toops Secondary Education and Teachers College Alumni Scholarships

A motion was made by Michelle Harrell to accept the selections of the scholarship committee, seconded by Mary Link, and approved by voice vote.
Symphony on the Prairie Outing Update
Symphony on the Prairie will be August 27, 2004. Eugene White volunteered to pay for board members to attend the event. Ernie Krug will give Julie Bradshaw a list of board members.
Children's Museum of Indianapolis Outing
David McIntosh reported that the Children's Museum outing will be October 1, 2005 from 6:30 – 10:00 p.m. The outing will be free for all Teachers College alumni, faculty and staff. Teachers College is sponsoring the outing. The museum will be fully staffed and the carrousel will be operating. Ernie Krug mentioned board members will be needed to staff the registration table.
National Council for the Accreditation of Teacher Education (NCATE) Update
Tracy Cross gave a brief update on NCATE.
Dean's Report
Tracy Cross and Laurie Mullen introduced themselves. Tracy Cross is the Associate Dean for Graduate Studies, Research, and Assessment. Laurie Mullen is the Associate Dean for Teacher Education.
New Business
Kate Webber reported on the life-long e-mail address that is being developed by Ball State and Microsoft.
Ernie Krug informed the board of Building Better Communities receptions with President Gora being held July 18 and 19, 2005.
Next Board Meeting
The next board meeting is Saturday, September 24, 2005 at 10 a.m. at the Alumni Center.
