After the committee meetings, Eugene White called the meeting to order at 10:00 a.m. After review of the March 6, 2004 minutes, Mike Garringer made a motion to accept, seconded by David McIntosh. The minutes were approved by voice vote.
COMMITTEE REPORTS
Budget Committee Report
Eugene White distributed the proposed budget for 2004-05. The total budget proposed was $9,100. A motion was made by Mary Link to approve the budget, Terri Austin seconded the motion, and the budget was approved by voice vote.
Innovative Education Grant
Out of six grant applications submitted this year, Karen Anderson, "A Civilization Torn between Loyalty and Liberty", from Warsaw, Indiana, was selected as the winner of the Innovative Education Grant for 2004-05. She will be awarded $425 to prepare a Power Point presentation/news broadcast with persuasive advertisement techniques enticing and persuading people to come and settle in one of the original 13 colonies. Motion to approve the selection for the Innovative Education Grant was made by Doug Siebert, seconded by Judy Briganti, and approved by voice vote.
Terri Austin will lead the sub-committee to revise the Innovative Education Grant.
Outstanding Alumni Committee Report
Two nominations were submitted this year. The winner of the Outstanding Alumni Award for 2004-05 is William Davis Hatcher, BS64MA67. He recently retired as Superintendent of Kern County Schools in California.
A motion was made by David McIntosh to accept the nomination, seconded by Judy Briganti, and approved by voice vote.
Scholarship Committee
Out of 36 submissions, 11 scholarships were awarded this year. Seven were awarded in the amount of $1,000 each and four were in the amount of $500. The 11 students, their hometowns, and the scholarship(s) are:

A motion was made by David McIntosh to accept the selections of the scholarship committee, seconded by Judy Briganti, and approved by voice vote.
Symphony on the Prairie Outing Update
Symphony on the Prairie will be August 28, 2004. Dean Weaver will send an e-mail to Indianapolis area Teachers College alumni and will include the names of board members attending the event. Eugene White will pay for board members to attend the event. Ernie Krug will give Julie Bradshaw a list of board members.
Churchill Downs Outing Update
Ernie Krug reported that 43 people attended the Churchill Downs outing May 15. The Teachers College Alumni Board sponsored the event.
Dean's Report
Dean Weaver, Beverley Pitts and Mark Kornmann attended the Cooperstown, New York opening for the Sand Lot Kids Reading House.
The electronic fieldtrips sponsored by Best Buy for the 2003-04 academic year, were successful. The fieldtrips will continue during the 2004-05 academic year. DVDs of the fieldtrips will be available to purchase at Best Buy stores nationwide.
The Teachers College is looking into conducting a Web auction like the one recently conducted for the Cardinal Varsity Club.
Next Board Meeting
The next board meeting is Saturday, October 23, 2004 at the Alumni Center.
