Police training modified, alcohol abuse response enhanced
Ball State is making substantive changes to its university police officer training program and is enhancing efforts to respond to student alcohol abuse, said President Blaine A. Brownell during a news conference Dec. 11. Full Story

Lilly Endowment awards grant
for internship development

Ball State will receive $1.5 million from Indianapolis-based Lilly Endowment Inc. to provide students more Indiana internships and incentives to keep them in the Hoosier state upon graduation.

Work force development programs boost local economy
For nearly 20 years, Ball State’s Center for Organizational Resources (COR) has been offering training for more than just college students. COR’s work force development training programs have been helping boost Indiana’s economy by increasing employee productivity and preparing unemployed Hoosiers to re-enter the work force. Full Story

Federal grant boosts Muncie-Ball State broadband initiative
Ball State will use a $600,000 federal grant in an effort to develop a high-speed broadband network for on- and off-campus research and development. The funding has been approved by the U.S. House of Representatives and is expected to pass the Senate, according to a statement from Rep. Mike Pence.  Full Story

Students produce videos, help area Hispanic community
To help Indiana’s growing Hispanic population better understand America’s laws and culture, Ball State students wrote and produced four mini-dramas on DVD. The students spent several months in Noblesville acting as interpreters and liaisons. Full Story

Reception, gallery talk planned for close of Jim Dine exhibit
The Museum of Art will host a closing reception for the “Jim Dine Prints: 1985-2000” exhibit at 2 p.m. Dec. 14. The reception, which is free and open to the public, will feature a Gallery Talk, “Jim Dine: Themes and Variations.” Full Story
