McKinley project, honorary degrees among board actions
The Board of Trustees today cleared the way for the rebuilding of
the main campus thoroughfare, instituted a policy for naming buildings
and programs, approved honorary degrees for two distinguished alumni,
and gave service and staff personnel the ability to make pre-tax
contributions to their retirement plans.

Committee named to identify candidates for presidency
A committee comprising a cross section of the university community has
been named to conduct a national search for the university's next
president. The 13-member committee includes representatives of the
university's faculty, staff, students, officers, alumni, foundation and
board of trustees.

Annuity fund contributions can be made before taxes
Employees can choose to make pre-tax contributions to their retirement
annuity funds following action by the Board of Trustees today. The
action will enable members of the Indiana Public Employees’ Retirement
Fund (PERF) and the Indiana State Teachers Retirement Fund (TRF) to save
more pre-tax money for retirement.

Tax legislation increases limits for contributions to annuities
University employees can make beneficial changes to their tax
deferred annuity (TDA) plans as a result of the Economic Growth and Tax
Relief Reconciliation Act of 2001. In addition to increased TDA limits,
the Saver's Tax Credit is available to qualifying employees.
