Focus on Asia activities begin Nov. 3 with music, refreshments
The ceremony at 3:30 p.m. in the L.A. Pittenger Student Center Cardinal Hall is the first in a series of events continuing through Nov. 23. Focus on Asia is sponsored by the Asian Studies Committee and the Asian American Student Association. Full Story

Study to determine if walking poles help older adults
Brendan Humphries, acting director of the Biomechanics Laboratory, is conducting the 12-month research project targeting people ages 65 and older. The project, funded through a $300,000 grant from the National Institutes of Health, will determine if the walking poles are commercially viable. Full Story

Students create children's
CD-ROM for 'What If Project'

Ball State telecommunications students are developing interactive CD-ROMs to help children understand such topics as cancer, pet care and diabetes. The project, a collaborative venture between Ball State, the Muncie Center for the Arts and the Muncie Star Press, will consist of a book with an accompanying interactive CD-ROM. Full Story
 

  Student's 'Sound Experiment' debuts on Indiana Public Radio
A program conceived and produced by a student employee finds its way onto the IPR airwaves at midnight Nov. 2. "The Sound Experiment" is the brainchild of Ball State telecommunications major Dan Crall. Full Story

Deadline set for staff, service personnel to choose awards
Eligible staff and service personnel have until Dec. 15 to select awards for their years of service. People celebrating 10 to 35 years of service during fiscal year 2003-2004 can choose from among several solid gold, non-jeweled items or other accessories. Award order forms will be mailed by Nov. 10. Full Story

Softball team earns national
all-academic recognition

Ball State's 2002-2003 softball team has been honored as an all-academic team by the National Fastpitch Coaches Association. The team, coached by Terri Laux, compiled a 3.341 combined grade-point average to place 10th among more than 300 NCAA Division I institutions. Full Story
