Christy Woods greenhouse offers home for unwanted lady beetles
If you're being bugged by beetles seeking a warm winter haven in your home, Shari Grant has a suggestion. Don't kill the unwanted guests, she says. Instead, send them to the biology department's greenhouse in Christy Woods. Full Story

Students appear in Discovery Channel documentary on MLK
Ball State students appeared in a Discovery Times Channel documentary that which aired Oct. 21. The documentary, "MLK Boulevard: The Concrete Dream," featured the involvement of 14 students in Muncie's Martin Luther King Blvd. controversy and their interaction with the city's African American community. to keep fall tradition alive

WRTV reporter to keynote conference on media diversity
Ball State will host a conference Oct. 31 to discuss issues of diversity facing the nation’s media industries. Rafael Sanchez, a reporter for Indianapolis television station WRTV since 2001, will give the keynote address. Full Story

Business professionals to discuss embracing change
Ball State is bringing a group of business professionals to campus to discuss how individuals can embrace change.  “A Culture of Change,” a lecture series sponsored by the College of Business, is designed to help business executives, faculty and students understand how the world is changing personally, economically, politically and technologically. Golden Key Honour Society induction slated for Oct. 26
Golden Key International Honour Society will induct 248 Ball State juniors and seniors and five honorary members at ceremonies Oct. 26 in Emens Auditorium.

  Pumpkins will fall from the
sky once again on Oct. 29
The forecast for Oct. 29 calls for isolated showers of plummeting pumpkins. The precipitation of orange orbs is a rare phenomenon better known as Ball State’s second annual Pumpkin Drop, which will take place from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. on LaFollette Field next to Worthen Arena. Full Story

Staff Council holding third annual Cardinal Coat Drive
New or gently used coats, hats, gloves and scarves of all sizes will be collected at 19 campus locations Oct. 27-31. Christian Ministries of Delaware County will distribute donated items. Full Story

Performance to blend digital sound, imagery at Artsgarden
“Digital Image and Sound Collaborative Urban Showcase (DISCUS)” is a free evening of collaborative electronic entertainment, a relatively new art form, performed by 20 students and professors from Ball State’s College of Fine Arts electronic art and music engineering technology (MET) programs. A scholarship to provide financial assistance to teaching majors at Ball State has been created by a Florida couple. The Dunworth Scholarship was established by John and Lavona Walden Dunworth, former Ball State faculty members now residing in Pensacola, Fla. Full Story

Executive named to College
of Business Hall of Fame

Ball State has recognized the head of an Indianapolis company by inducting him into the College of Business Hall of Fame. John C. Gaylor, president and founder of Gaylor Group Inc., is a native of Muncie and received a bachelor’s degree in business from Ball State in 1976. Full Story
