University to sponsor two
new public charter schools
Two schools have earned sponsorship from
Ball State to operate as public charter schools. Based upon a
recommendation of a charter school review panel and after receiving
positive community feedback from each school’s public hearing, President
Blaine A. Brownell approved the sponsorship of schools in Gary and
Graysville.

homecoming week
activities
"Wild
With Pride" is the theme for Ball State's annual homecoming activities
Oct. 13-18. The week begins with the second annual crowning of
faculty/staff royalty during opening day events Oct. 13 in Irving Gym. (See

The highlight of the week is the football game with
Miami
University at
2 p.m. Oct. 18. Other events include the Air Jam, bed
race, parade and talent search.

Architects from around the world are coming to
Ball
State and
Indianapolis Oct. 23-26 to explore the latest digital
media and computer technologies during “Connecting — Crossroads of
Digital Discourse.” Architecture scholars from 17 countries such as
Israel,
Taiwan,
Australia and
Italy are gathering in
Central Indiana for the 22nd annual Association for
Computer-Aided Design in Architecture (ACADIA). The conference has a
reputation for showcasing the latest technologies that will drive the
future of the profession.

will perform Don Quixote at Emens Auditorium at 8 p.m. Oct. 30. Artistic
and technical severity, as well as diverse aesthetic conceptions, have
granted the Ballet Nacional de Cuba a relevant place among international
dance institutions.

Retired teachers honor helpers
by endowing three scholarships
A Ball State graduate and his wife have
endowed three scholarships to help students reach educational goals.
The scholarships funded by William and
Phyllis Wayne, who now reside in Clovis, Calif., will honor individuals
who helped the couple find their way to teaching careers.
