Entomology lab resumes testing mosquitoes, ticks for diseases
After a two-year hiatus, Ball State’s Public Health Entomology Lab will again be identifying and testing ticks for various diseases. Under the direction of Robert Pinger, physiology and health science professor, the entomology lab has been identifying ticks since 1982. Full Story

April 8 public forum scheduled for feedback on proposed fees
Members of the Board of Trustees and the university’s senior leadership will conduct a public forum April 8 to hear feedback on its proposed tuition rates and to provide information on the factors affecting student fees. Full Story

University creates state's first  scholarship to reward diversity
Indianapolis resident Sandy Marshall has endowed The Merrell Thomas Marshall Memorial Scholarship to provide financial assistance to students interested in bolstering diversity in their communities, on campus and in society at-large. Full Story

University president, civil rights leader to give Beyerl Lecture
Freeman A. Hrabowski III, president of the University of Maryland, Baltimore County, will focus on critical questions of student academic preparation and values development in college. Full Story

April 8 lecture to focus on restoring public services in Iraq
Hoon Mok Chung, senior vice president of Projects International, will speak at 3:30 p.m. in Whitinger Business Building, room 144. His topic is “Making the Most Out of the Worst.” Full Story

Nursing graduates continue to excel on national examination
Ball State’s graduating class of May 2003 posted a 95.6 percent pass rate, while the graduating class of December 2002 posted a 100 percent pass rate. The combined NCLEX-RN pass rate for Ball State nursing graduates in the 2002-03 academic year was 97.7 percent. Full Story

 

David Costill receives society's
lifetime achievement award

Human performance pioneer David Costill
will be honored for his lifetime achievements in exercise science April 2 in Indianapolis. Costill, the John and Janice Fisher Professor Emeritus of Exercise Science, will receive the Lifetime Achievement Award from the American Society of Exercise Physiologists. Full Story

Staff employees recognized April 15 for years of service
This marks the 39th year of honoring university staff employees for years of service. Seven honorees have served Ball State for 30 or more years. Full Story

Daily News honored among
best student newspapers
