New Lilly retention initiative called great news for Indiana
Ball State hopes to recruit and retain more outstanding faculty members and students through a new initiative announced by Lilly Endowment Inc.

What research misses: We use more media than we say we do
Researchers from Ball State's Center for Media Design found that media use by adults is more than double the extent reported by standard survey research methods. Called the Middletown Media Studies, the research asked questions and used methods that are more extensive than those found in traditional media-measurement methods. Full Story

University wins eight awards
in local advertising competition

Ball State brought home eight awards Feb. 21 in annual competition sponsored by
the Advertising Federation of East Central Indiana. The local Addy Awards recognize outstanding advertising efforts in various media. Full Story

March 5 workshop will help guide campus bikeway plan
The free, public workshop will take place 9:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the College of Architecture and Planning (CAP) ground floor multi-purpose room. The workshop’s purpose will be to gather public input regarding a bikeway system on campus. Full Story

Sports editor of Chicago Tribune RedEye edition speaks March 2
Ball State alumnus Michael Kellams, sports editor of the Chicago Tribune’s RedEye, will speak at 7:30 p.m. in Art and Journalism Building room 175. His topic will be “J-Lo, McPaper and Ben Bradlee: Why Nipple Rings Matter As Much As They Do. And, Then Again, Why They Really Don’t. And So Forth.”  Full Story

Student input helping to direct planning for new residence hall
Pending approval by the Board of Trustees, the new hall would be built on the site immediately north of the DeHority Halls complex, and university officials have met with many student groups gathering ideas regarding the amenities and services. Full Story

 

'Ruthless' tale of theatrical mayhem to unfold at Strother

The students will unveil their gallery March 3-7 at the Mitchell Place Gallery, 301 S. Walnut St., Suite 102. The exhibit will feature digital and live works by Muncie artists Alfredo Marin-Carle, Pamela DeMarris, Jon Stine and Bill Zack. Full Story

Multimedia tribute at Emens features Henry Mancini's music
Monica Mancini will honor her late father, composer Henry Mancini, in the multimedia tribute, "Mancini at the Movies," at 7:30 p.m. March 3 in Emens Auditorium. The tribute includes clips from some of his greatest movies plus rare behind-the-scenes video as well as his music. Full Story

Memorial services held for former professor Merle Fifield
Memorial services for Merle Fifield are at 6 p.m. Feb. 27 at Meeks Mortuary Chapel. Fifield, who taught medieval literature in the English department for 34 years, died last week. Full Story
