Children's center given ebooks
to help children read, learn

eBooks have found a home at Muncie's Huffer Memorial Children's Center. The United Way-sponsored childcare center was given 15 electronic books as part of a study organized by Richard Bellaver.

Trustees accept sales institute gift, set room and board rates
A $1 million gift from Indianapolis-based H.H. Gregg will be used to expand opportunities for students of a nationally recognized sales education program in the Ball State Miller College of Business. Under the direction of Ramon Avila, the Center for Professional Selling has established itself as a leader in educating students for careers in sales. Full Story

Ball State is making its wireless computer network five times quicker, an upgrade that will make it the fastest among all Indiana college campuses. Full Story

Lawyer and accessibility expert named new university trustee
Greg Fehribach, an attorney from Indianapolis and a leading consultant on accessibility design projects across Indiana, has been appointed to the Ball State Board of Trustees by Gov. Joseph Kernan. Fehribach replaces Jeff Smulyan, who served two terms and has stepped down because of other commitments. Full Story

Spring semester on-campus enrollment highest since 1996
On-campus enrollment for spring semester at Ball State is 17,081, the largest since 1996. Strong undergraduate retention was the key in increasing on-campus spring enrollment by 180 students over last year’s number. Full Story

  Evaluation team to spend two days in meetings on campus
A team of 12 evaluators will spend two days on campus to capture the essence of Ball State. The Feb. 9-11 visit is the final phase of the university’s 10-year reaccreditation by the Higher Education Commission of the North Central Association of Colleges and Schools. Preparation for the visit concluded last month with publication of an institutional self-study. Full Story

History professor in Indonesia on Fulbright scholarship
While on assignment in Indonesia for the last several months, Ball State history professor Ken Hall has found local residents increasingly perplexed about America. As a Fulbright Scholar teaching at Indonesia’s oldest university, Hall is constantly being questioned about every aspect of American life and has realized his students are wary of U.S. political and military might.
