DaVinci's Drawings

In the 1500s, the famous artist, sculptor and painter Leonardo DaVinci took a look at mathematics and mechanics. In several famous drawings (pictured here) he elaborately details a type of flying model called an ornithopter. Mimicing the flight of birds, a man would strap himself into the device and flap his arms to create the power for flight.
